Colliers Yard

Fire Block is proud to be part of the landmark development taking place at Colliers Yard in Manchester. Fire Block has been engaged to provide comprehensive passive fire protection across the site including in tower blocks reaching an impressive 42 storeys high. These large-scale buildings require a meticulous approach to fire safety, ensuring that all standards are met to protect future residents, business occupants and visitors. The scope of the work includes the installation of cavity barriers and the sealing of penetrations to create robust fire resistance systems. By securing these vulnerable areas, Fire Block ensures that a fire would be contained effectively, offering critical protection to the structure of their occupants.

Weir Mill

Weir Mill is a distinctive development in Manchester, bringing together 253 homes within a vibrant community. To ensure the safety of its residents and visitors, Fire Block have been engaged to complete all passive fire protection measures for internal and external cladding across the site. These measures are designed to provide 2 hours of fire resistance, contributing to the creation of a secure environment that aligns with the developments vision for quality and safety. Work on the project, scheduled between 2024 and 2025, has been approached in phases to ensure effective communication and synchronisation with other trades on site. The collaborative approach between Fire Block and the main contractor guarantees that Weir Mill will fully comply with fire safety regulations upon completion.

THE CHRISTIES HOSPITAL

Fire Block was honoured to be appointed as the main contractor for firestopping at the Christies Hospital in Manchester in 2022. The projects scope included implementing passive fire protection measures throughout the hospital to safeguard the wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors. The team installed fully compliant passive fire protection systems designed to provide 2 hours of fire resistance. These measures spanned key structural areas within the hospital offering robust cavity barriers to contain and limit the spread of fire.

TRAFFORD TOWERS

Grafton Court, Princess Court, Clifford Court, Pickford Court and Empress Court, home to 455 residents, all had around 15% of their exterior surfaces covered in problem cladding, which was removed and replaced in 2021 / 2022, with Fire Block working to install cavity barriers behind the cladding. Work was completed in 2022.

TOWN HILL WARRINGTON

The development on Town Hill will boast 39 one and two-bedroom flats, as well as underground parking and a sky garden on the sixth storey. Situated on the old Lloyds Bank site, Fire Block sprayed and protected all steels with Intumescent paint in the new building, ensuring the integrity of the frame is protected for 60 minutes.

Shepperton Studios

We were thrilled to be invited to play a critical role in the development of Shepperton Studios owned by the Pinewood Group, where Netflix and Amazon have stages. Passive fire protection was a key priority to ensure the safety of the building’s occupants, and fire block was entrusted to provide a fully compliant solution. A team of four highly skilled operatives from Fire Block were deployed to Shepperton Studios for six months to carry out the work. The expertise in installing a wide range of passive fire protection measures ensured that every component was built to exacting standards. Fire Block delivered 2 hours of fire resistance throughout the complex, significantly enhancing its safety and resilience.

St James Quarter

Fire Block was proud to be part of the prestigious St James Quarter development; a landmark retail and residential complex located in the heart of Edinburgh. The installation included fire-resistant barriers and systems designed to limit the spread of fire, safeguard evacuation routes, and protect critical structural elements. By focusing on precise execution and adhering to UK fire regulations, Fire Block ensured that every store had the necessary measures to enhance fire safety.
